Does anyone have any information on the recipes the Field kitchens used?

Having read about the food the field kitchens provided I am curious to see what the food tatses like.

The amount of times rice figured in the diet surprised me, I lived and worked in Frankfurt in 1999 for six months and developed a liking for German food, I always like the beer. Never though did I come across rice served with Ox or bacon. Never had pickled ribs, pea and ham I get totally.

If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction it would be a great help
 
You'll find rice a major food item in many armies of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As long as it is kept dry it keeps and is easy to transport.
