Please can someone with better knowledge then me tell me which German Regiments were in The Triangle on the night 30 June 1916. My Grandfather (B Company, 2KRRC) was wounded in a diversionary action at the Double Crassier near Loos on that night and I am attempting to record his unit's activities during the period of the attack.
Many thanks

Hello

I am French and i don't know the "triangle" near Loos: is it Loos-en-goelle ?

Can you give me more explication on the geographic zone ?

I have documentation but if i don't see where it is...

The Triangle was a heavily fortified section of the German Front Line near Loos-en- Gohelle very near to the village of Moroc just south of the Bethune Road (which was the former main road from Lens to Bethune). It was known as the Triangle because of its shape when viewed on aerial photograph and Trench maps. At 9.15 pm on 30 June 1916 a diversionary action involving the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Division attacked the fortification with both the 2nd Royal Sussex and 2nd Kings Royal Rifle Corp leading the attack. The fortification was adjacent and parallel to the two slag heaps known as the Double Crassier - part of which formed the German front line. The Double Crassier slag heaps have grown enormously in the 70 years since 1916 when coal mining was halted in the area in 1986. The Crassier are now conical in shape and can be seen as much as 30 kms from Lens. Any assistance in identifying the German units that took part in the counter attack would be much appreciated.
