In 1988 a collector named Lector Orrick started to put together a study on steel helmet plates. This was published in the Journal Kaiserzeit, and this article expands upon that. The question that we seek to answer is which helmets actually had M15 gray, steel counterparts. The requirement is to find an actual steel helmet plate that is magnetic, not a prewar brass paint over. The true test is to find a picture of each of these helmets. This is an enlisted phenomena for a helmet that was introduced in July of 1915. It was the last pickelhaube in use before steel helmets took over.

This is very interesting! Lector indicated that there was a confirmed M15 Grenadier Eagle. He gave no sources. Trawnik says he has never seen one and has not included it in his book. Do you have this helmet?

Wow, very nice helmet, first I have seen as well!

My brother has an Ersatz as well, but his has brass trim and hardware.

Hello,

Where could we find this article ?

Best regards :-k

I have seen an M15 to the 12 th grenadier's at a show about 4 years ago. It was sold the same day , and went for at that time $700 Cdn .
It had the Grey metal Grenadier plate no extra holes . I was looking for a Silver Gaurd Plate for a M95 Haube I was working on. That is when i looked at the haube and noted stamps and plate .
