Grenadier Regiment 7

KAGGR#1

Well-known member
I will get my G R 7 grouping started .
G R 7 raised 1797 . It can be traced back to
the old Friedrich the Great Armee regiment
I R 29 .It took up the flag pattern of I R 58 von Courbiere
Garrison was Liegnitz and was part of V A K

Here is the Waffenrock for officer of G R 7
with officers helmet to parade .
Helmet banner detail and collar and cuffs ( piped in white ) detail
I bought the Waffenrock less any shoulder straps or epaulettes
I later located a proper pair of G R 7 epaulettes .

Excellent set! The embroidery on the collar and cuffs of the Grenadier Regts are very intricate. I'm curious why all 12 Regiments didn't carry the distinctive embroidery?

Dennis ;
Maybe if the war had not started they might have .
As we have seen so far
G R 1
G R 2
G R 3
G R 4
G R 5
G R 7
took the special collar and cuffs form the old
Infantry Regiments of the Armee of Frederick the Great
they also patterned their flags from these old regiments

For some reason G R 6 only had gilt / gold collar & cuff litzen

We will see when I post L G R 8 that their collars & cuffs are special
G R 9 & 10 are plain Waffenrocks

G R 11 has the same gilt / gold litzen as G R 6

G R 12 is also plain
It might be because some of these last regiments were
raised late and their lineage can not be traced to an old regiment

The crown has been sniped off .

G R 7 enlisted man . .War time Ersatz helmet

G R 7 helmet plates and one G R 9 at the top
A couple of these I think are now with B L of PH.com fame

G R 7 enlisted helmet plate

G R 7 Officers helmet plate

Have any of you world -wide helmet and helmet plate collectors
ever seen an enlisted Feldgrau helmet plate for the following ;
Grenadier Regt 1
G R 4
G R 7
G R 9
If so would you please post a photo ?
Thanks
Steve

G R 7 enlisted shoulder straps and passbook
included is a nice pair for a 1 year volunteer .

A real nice pair of officers shoulder straps for G R 7 . Because of the width of the
straps I think these were made for the Future Peace Time uniform . The Friedensrock.
and a single epaulette G R 7

Prinz Oskar in the pre war blue Waffenrock of G R 7

Color card of the Batl flag of G R 7
Since G R 7 was part of the V A K
all flags of all the regiments in V A K were destroyed in Posen.
I wonder if any of the relic diggers have found that location ?
There would still be metal unit rings and the silver rings with
the dates the new flags were given .
Also the pole tops some of which would be 1813 and 1870 Iron Cross

Last a uniform that I got some years ago from George Bush , Jr. who lived
in Perryville , Mo. at the time . An early collector of Feldgrau uniforms
and officers cyphered shoulder straps . This is no longer in my collection
but worth a view . Information form George ;
Uniform of Lt. von Unruh G R 7 M1910 Feldgrau

Dennis ;
Thanks
I sold the G R 7 Feldgrau to a collector here in the states.
I was told that some years later Malcolm Fisher
bought the entire Feldgrau collection .
A lot of that collection is shown in Fisher's
12 " X 16 " inch over-sized book on Feldgrau uniforms
If you own the book , check page 22
that is the same G R 7 uniform that I owned .
Also look at page 35
The 5th Garde Regt zu Fuss Officer Friedensrock .
That was mine also and was sold to the same collector
In the future if or when I might do a grouping
on the 5th G R zu Fuss I will post photo
of when I owned it .
A photo of it also appears on the back of the book's slip cover
