not sure if that is a typo or his name has been previously misidentified? Anyway a rather nice portrait of Major Georg von Byern (23 April 1860-13 January 1929) He left the Prussian army in 1909 and spent three years with the Ottoman army. He briefly returned to Prussian service in 1912 as a Major/Oberstleutnant in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 17 before retiring the same year. Activated for WW1, he initially commanded the replacement battalion of Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr.4 and then from 15 October 1914 to 31 May 1917 the officer training course at the Döberitz troop training area. He retired as a full colonel (Patent of 13.7.17) and lived in Berlin.
