The Ersatz Hanoverian haube listed below is on EBay.

I have three questions the state cockade is black and white, I also recall seeing a white with red cross for Hanover.
Why is the state cockade sometimes black and white and other times white with a red cross?

Why do some Prussian wappens including this Hanoverian 74th regiment, come with a "WATERLOO" commemorative Bandau and other regiments not? I'm guessing its a tradition thing, those regiments involved in the Battle of Waterloo maybe.

lastly how do you rate it overall, I don't see any regimental markings?

Beware of this seller because he mainly sells crap. This seller was discussed in other threads on this forum:

I could be wrong offcourse but to my knowledge a white cockade with a red cross is from Hamburg & Lubeck. Indeed, the bandeau waterloo refers to the participation of this regiment in the battle of Waterloo.

After the 1866 war Hanover was annexed by Prussia to become the Prussian Province of Hanover. So it has the Prussian state Kokarde. 22 March 1897: from this date on all particularities on the use of the Kokarden disappeared: with the introduction of the Reichs-kokarde: for the entire German army. This Reichs Kokarde had to be worn at the right side, on the sidepost of the chinstrap half. The UNITS Land Kokarde was worn at the left side; NO LONGER the one of the soldiers country of origin !
The Banderolle “Waterloo” was given by Allerhöchste Kabinets Ordre "A.K.O.” of 24 january 1899 to the five Infanterie Regimenter listed below: to mention their participation in the battles fought within the ranks of the British Armies; "The Kings German Legion" in 1815.
-1.Hanoversches Infanterie Regiment Nr 74
-2.Hanoversches Infanterie Regiment Nr 77
-Ost-Friesisches Infanterie Regiment Nr 78
-4.Hanoversches Infanterie Regiment Nr 164
-5.Hanoversches Infanterie Regiment Nr 165
