It looks like the bandeau on the Wappen says Panama, That would be another contry to add to the long list of countries that used Pickelhauben

Joe, I do not think it is Ecuador, they have a condor, this looks to be an eagle, Panama does have an eagle, but the coat of arms is not corret for Panama either.

The cockade is an issue. It appears to be green and white. But no South American country uses/used those colors:

That haube is I believe from the Brazilian State of Parana.

Pretty much dead on for the worker with the sickle. I can't completely read the scroll inscription but it ends in "Parana"

It was probably worn by the Military Police of Parana

There is a slight difference in the coat of arms of the state and the MP's but if you notice on the MP's the eagle is facing left, the same as the wappen on the haube.

I have not seen them with chin strap posts yet as on the one you called the "1848 wappen". Do you have any details about that model?
