"Hello Ducky"

Fabulous picture! I know about mens earrings being not uncommon in southern Germany in rural areas around the middle of the 19th century. This was more due to superstition, not fashion. I never saw this in the WWI time frame but on the other hand this chap is a bit aged himself. Some journeymen had earrings too for traditional reasons.

I was thinking he might be a gypsy (Roma?) too. The matting around the photo is interesting with its Austrian motifs.

I see your ancestors had the good sense to leave the doors open! :fart:
