Hello everyone,my name is Gelle and i live in Flanders,Belgium. After a few visits to the Forum i decided to register. I'm a relative small collector in comparison to some of the collectors active here..... But the collection keeps growing. My main interest goes out to everything that has a blade. However like most collectors i like everything,so a nice pickelhaube or a rifle is always welcome to the collection.

Hey Francis,
Looks like you went to the Fort de la Pompelle Museum when it was open.
It is great to have new members that help dilute the Canadians here!

Whe met a Canadian gentleman and his wife in the Fort de la Pompelle. Filming the collection. Telling his wife: Officers wore the fine Pickelhauben; O.R. only wore caps (krätchen).... It was not up to me to lecture them on the wonderfull Hauben World.
The wife was then telling me about her grandfather. A Bavarian soldier that was killed in the Champagne region. Her mother came to Canada as a very young child. Of course when you hear a story like this you want to help those people out. Without getting on their nerves. They asked me what nationality all these headgear was. When I told them they were all Imperial German, the lady insisted that her husband put the camcorder on. I told them about the different Kingdoms and smaller states. When we came to the Bavarian section she fell silent. I was happy I had been able to give them that bit extra information.

@ Khukri:Ah yes cold steel indeed.... Loved the pics of the Fort de la Pompelle Museum,very nice... Here's a quick pic of some of my cold steel....Not the same as the museum,but hope you enjoy.
