Help to ID this US Helm

Got this in a trade for some foreign coins and paper money today.
The inside is stamped Wm H horstmann Co Philadelphia March 4 1899. Does this make it a 1899 Model that was just never finished. Would be a great project to finish the helmet with original parts.

Very new to us helms so go slow.

This is a Model 1889 helmet, which was the slightly revised version of the Model 1887 helmet. These were used up to 1909.

Horstmann was the main supplier of these, but McKinney & Company in New York also made white summer helmets for the US Army and USMC.

I have sun helmets from all over the world, but I find this to be one of my favorite patterns. Maybe I'm just patriotic!
