Here Is One You Don't See Every Day

I have never seen a NCO.
I thought wappen should be enameled.
I guess that would be for an officer.
The helmet looks good but I really don't know about the wappen.

It looks totally original…..even the wappen itself. It’s just that missing enamel. 😕
Brian
enlisted men and NCO's would not have enamel
the only question would be if the shield is original
A few years ago I had a loose shield
I sold it to a site member

It is a very nice helmet. I have seen some of these that have that wappen that have not been enameled. I believe this helmet is all original.

This one has lots of character. Weitze has two of plain, unenameled variety of these helmets right now, I believe (for a lot more money). There is a salty enameled version in Hermann Historica's 10/27 auction (not sure what I think of the enamel though).

Is the prong back common for these wappen badges? The handful I've seen are all nut/bolt.

Is the HH helmet part of the spiked helmets that are in the USA ?

Yep - its in Munich. Does the enameled shield look good to you? I've not seen one if these in the wild... View attachment 26012
Excellent enlargement of the photo
I don't think that I would go for this one
I don't like the detail
I was told by a very advanced collector when I got started in 1970
that in the 1950's a batch of copies of the Brandenberg shield were made up
Let's also ask Bruno what he thinks
and others please let us know what you think

Enamel for officers ; metal only for other ranks

What I think?.. You already summed it up in the second sentence of your post, Steve...
It says it all.
