I bought this recently ( you might have seen it on WAF ) I added a repo chinstrap and repo cockades for the time being , you will notice the spike is wrong but interestingly I found a photo of a Hesse Pickelhaube with a normal spike. I put an " I want " message out for a Hesse spike as the repo one I purchased was no bueno it has a tiny screw fitting and just doesn't look right even after a bit of fake patina . A fellow forum member replied with one but its an officers version basically it looks exactly correct but is .5 inch taller , my question is is this acceptable I am no expert on the OYV or NCO /Officers difference's. I probably will be buying it because no doubt I will find an officers Hesse next week without a spike Thanks Rob

They would have fooled me with that shell and front visor, and even the liner doesn't look bad.

Ok I do have a lot of Picklehaubes and have been collecting for many a year and I Know its not an Indian or any repo . The rear peak is a mystery I agree but then there are a lot of mysteries . Rob

Rob I know you are an experienced collector. I am going to withdraw my comment and admit it looks very different in the close ups. Good idea to buy that officer’s spike as you are correct, a Hessen officer will show up next week without one.
