Don't remember seeing this one before.

That IS interesting, and I can't read French very well. To me it looked original, but I wonder about these little bits of extra metal along the side of the wappen on the oak leaves (sixth picture from left?).
I've never seen (Noticed?) something like that before. Is that a part of the brass stamping that wasn't trimmed just perfectly, or part of a casting / replication process? I think the seller deserves credit for showing those little oddities.... that I am wondering about.

If it's not original, it's a darned good fake, if it is original, it's a very cool helmet! :-k

I guess everybody else is wondering the same... or bidding. :P Since I can't buy any helmets for a while (until my rich uncle gets out of the poor house), I'm just an interested bystander.

Filz JR115 helmets have been discussed several times on the forum, Edwin, but perhaps you had not yet joined. One sold on ebay in 2009. There is an excellent studio picture in Jurgen Kraus' book showing a young soldier wearing a felt JR115 helmet. My own sample can be seen on the forum at

This is therefore perfectly legit. Of course copies may have been made as it remains an excessively rare item, but the one currently on ebay looks good to me.

Thanks for your answer and teaching me something today :thumb up: That's one of the great things of this forum.

Hey Bruno,

Nice helmet! Okay, now I see those things I was wondering about are because a set of oak leaves are broken off of the ebay example. Thanks for the help and information! One of these days I'll get that Hessen example for my collection, but not for a while.
