Hussar Regt. 17

These are three WW1 or pre-WW1 German swords, with the Prussian eagle on the handles.
K89 Model? 89K Model?
They are all marked as being Hussar Regt. 17.
All three are done in different styles, as requested by the purchasing individual.
They all have scabbards.
The bluing is pretty good on two of the scabbards. The third is bare metal.
All if the blades are in good condition and the points are still pointy.
There are no bends nor nicks in the swords.
One of them has that deep blue/black coloration which can give false highlights to the writing and skulls which gives it a goldish look when turned the right way.
I had a person that informed me that the 17th Hussar Regiment is the most desirable of all the German outfits to collect.
They led the charge against the entire French Army at the Battle of Mars La Tour (which I didn’t even know was a battle…Duh!).
This person also priced them as being between $800-$1500, depending, of course, on condition, with the one having the deep blue/black acid etching as the most desirable and said that it would most likely be the Europeans that would go “Coo-Coo for Cocoa Puffs” over them.
However, I don’t take the highest price that someone tells me as gospel.
I’m just trying to gauge their true value.
I have 4 weeks before the SOS to figure it out.

I can always do more pictures, but I’m sure all of you in this group know that it’s hard to do good pictures.
Thanx for any possible help.
Tim

PS-
I also have two German naval swords to put up.
One is true Damascus and I’m 95% sure that it was the property of the last Kapitan zur See of the Deutschland in 1916.9DC30EC1-13FA-4B62-85D2-E41D7BBAC80F.jpeg14B9CCAE-01B9-4B21-948A-6122AAD12989.jpegB2C9AF8B-F407-416C-822D-ACA3A06C164D.jpeg

Tim,

I have sold and bought a lot of swords at SOS over the years and I think you are thinking correctly concerning prices. Well priced swords sell quickly while dealers carry around expensive swords for years. I think your swords in question are more in the lower and middle end of these price points. The 17th Hussar swords are desirable but you are pricing a steel/nickel hilt sword with a nice blade and basically paying for the blade. You need just the right buyer to pay top money for this style of sword IMHO. The dealer is correct that European collectors would have more interest in these particular swords.

Everyone has an opinion based on experience of course.

17th HR is a very popular Regiment to collect. These types of swords typically sell for $600-1000. If there is a maker's mark on the blade that would make them a little more valuable.

One of them has a sword knot on it. What is the color inside the tassel? If it is blue and yellow (like the one below) that is a rare sword knot, and you could probably get at least $250 for it... maybe more. If it is black, it is Prussian and worth $75-100.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your input.
I am very appreciative.

I’ll take a look at that sword knot.
One person felt that it was from the 1930’s.
I’ll look and maybe do another picture or two of it.

I see you’re over on the WAF also.
I have this thread over there to garner more replies and, hopefully, more info.
