Imperial Eagle, Imperial cockade, Prussian hatband? I'm with Joe, never seen anything like it before, would like to see a period photo to back it up....

Then again you never know anything is possible with privatley purchased colonial uniforms...

It has a look of the earlier naval straw hat. However, if it is supposedly an officer's hat, why the Mannschaften cockade?

That hat that you've posted photos of is looking a lot more realistc than the straw boater originally mentioned on this page.
