I've just noticed a lot of the London Imperial War Museum Collection is up online, have a search for "Pickelhaube" and other things at-

They have a great collection from the German colonies too-

But don't visit them too soon! It's closed until next year for a refurbishment when they will have a grand opening to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
