Info Needed on Bavarian Felt Shako

Hey Guys,
I have a Bavarian felt shako heading my way.
It has about a 3" tear on the top front of the helmet in the field badge area.
There is no evidence that a field badge was ever in that location just a tear.
Was there a time when they stopped using the field badge and switched to the double cocarde ?
Riech and Bavarian ?
I can repair the tear but if a field bange belongs there I will repair to accept one.
Anybody have a EM shako field badge out there ?

Field badge? Do you mean the feldzeichen?

The rules indicate that the shahos wear only a cocade (the reichkokarde) on the right side and a land-feldzeiche on the top front. Nevertheless there are photografics evidences of the time wich shows how in the later period these rules were sometimes disregarded. In these photos it is clearly visible that on both shako's sides were worn the two metallic cocades an no feldzeiche.
