Info Requested on a Unit Marking on M15 Prussian Pickelhaube

I just found/purchased an M15 wartime Prussian Enlisted helmet with a marking that I have not seen before. Helmet has an M15 Prussian wappen.

I believe the Kammerstempel reads: "II Ers.-Batl. I R 29" which would be "II Ersatz - Battalion I R 29". I think that the IR is 29, but it is hard to make out the last number from the photos I have at the moment.

I am not familiar with the attachment of these Ersatz Battalions.

Helmet has an M15 Prussian wappen.

Any info that could be provided will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi Alan,

The Ersatz Bataillon was formed in Germany when the regiment went to war, and received, trained, prepared and sent replacement troops for the regiment in the field.

Lars

Excellent markings! That helmet has way more information than any M15 I have ever seen. Very cool indeed.
