Inherited Pickelhaube- help!

Hello everyone! This is my first post here. We recently acquired some things belonging to my husband’s grandparents. Tucked away in one of the boxes was this helmet. I know it’s in very rough shape- I was hoping you all could help me date this one? I would love to restore it as it’s missing everything decorative.

This is a prussian enlisted man felt pickelhaube....looks like a model 1915 version since the front Visor trim is grey. Looks like you need an eagle plate for the front still.

What does the inside look like?

I believe the trim and spike may be brass- just very tarnished. There is a place it’s still brass colored, and where the spike is broken the brass color can be seen also. I uploaded a photo of the inside- is it not visible above?

Pickelhauben I was admiring your restoration work on a felt in a different thread! I certainly would love to see this one brought back with as much care. :)

Am I correct in assuming that this helmet should look like the one coert65 shared on his “salty felt helmet” thread?

Oh, you might be right about the trim being brass. Then it is a model 1914.

This helmet can be somewhat restored..it would take quite a bit of work though.

The eagle would be brass then
