I have used, and continue to use, the black light test and the thread burn test to help determine authenticity of items. I realize that neither test is absolutely definitive.
Here is some additional insight:

John :)

This guy could use a proof reader.

Tom Shutt went to jail .
He since passed away .
His story can be found via Google

Steve

Is he the same guy that was arrested for all of the Nazi leaders autograph forgeries?

John :?

Yes that is the exact same person . When I first knew him he had a very good job
with Hallmark Cards . He also had a shop in a high end area around Kansas City
called the King's Crown . I went to see him once to do a trade and that worked
out just fine . He was a condition "nut ". Everything had to be mint . He and his wife had just
bought a very large and nice new house . The basement was about the same square footage
as the floor plan upstairs . His collection was in the finished basement which
was a mixture of Imperial German
and 3rd Reich. Somewhere along the way he turned to the "dark side "
Hard to understand . Steve
