Hello boys,
As most of you know, I've been researching and collecting items to Ernst I von Sax Altenburg for some time now, so when this cabinet photo appeared on eBay I picked it up. I would date this picture around 1880-1890 based upon his age and the medal bar. What I find puzzling is the helmet in the picture.
It appears to be a guard helmet, round spike base nad possibly a round front visor. What is strange is that it appears to have rounded chin scales, fluted spike and all white cock feathers????? Now the Saxon generals wore all white feathers but they were heron feathers and not cock feathers.

Anyway.... it must be good to be the king (well, Duke anyway).....
Just thought I would post this for a conversation....
Cheers
Mark
