Dear Forum-Members,
since last year it has happened to me more often that I could not bid on French offers, although the item was offered internationally. When I tried to bid, the message appeared: "Aus steuerlichen Gründen ist es derzeit leider nicht möglich, bei diesem Anbieter zu kaufen. (For tax reasons it is currently not possible to buy from this seller)." Does anyone know this problem? Normally there should be no tax reasons within the EU due to free trade, as you don't have to pay any duties or taxes (except VAT).
I then simply logged on to the French ebay (ebay.fr) with the login data of my German ebay user and tried again. Strangely enough, I was able to buy the item now, even though the conditions hadn't changed. I was still a German customer bidding on a French ad. Only with the difference that I was now logged in on ebay.fr instead of ebay.de. Anyway, I wanted to introduce this little trick to you in case you ever find yourself in this situation. Maybe the trick works more often and wasn't just a one-off
