Recently found this this issue Model 1889 Tschapka at an estate sale. It needed some TLC but underneath all the crud was a pretty nice helmet.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Yes it was a very lucky find and the only time I have ever found anything really worthwhile at an estate sale.
Just a case of dumb luck and being in the right place at the right time.

Bruno: There is no unit mark. The helmet could be either 1st or 3rd Guard Ulan.
