Jager zu Pferde Wappen

I bought an M1915 Jager zu Pferde, which came with a Prussian line eagle Wappen. I understand that the standard wappen for such a helmet was the Dragoner eagle Wappen.

But did any of them issue with the line eagle--is this possibly a correct wappen?

I've seen photos in books with line, or maybe Kurassier, eagles, but can't comment beyond that. I'll take a look if I remember. Kinda busy with the school year in session here.

I have seen Kuriassier helmets with line eagle, but do not recall seeing a JZP with a line eagle?

Maybe you purchased a Kurassier helmet? Show as some pictures please, this would help much to see what you have...

Oh great... now I have to find the books that had the photos... Of course, who knows if the books are correct or not. I'll take a look when I have time, then we can continue with that as well, but I agree a photo or two would be good.

Johansson page 132 shows one with a Kurassier plate, JzP Rgt 1-6?

Larcade Vol II, page 76, two with Kurassier eagles and one with a Garde star.

Hallo from Julianadorp,Netherlands,

Jäger zu Pferde helmets with a line regiment eagle are the forerunners of the J z P - regiments , which were originated from 1905 .
The same helmet with a line- regiment- eagle belonged to a Meldereiter / Ordonance from 1895 - 1905 .

See also "Kaiser's Bunker" and look for "Jäger zu Pferde"
But when you are sure it cocerns a 1915 patters helmet with the grey fittings it is an other story .
The only possibility could be then that there were still units of Meldereiter issued .

Succes in recherging further,
Willem
