A few months back I promised to try and post pics of one of the helmets from my collection. So this is Februarys' heleme a pre 1891 Eigentum piece from JR119:
Side view showing original Wurtt kokarde and pre 1891 bolt on chinscales
Top of the OR style trichter. Obviously, this has some problems but I hesitate to try and fix it. One idea would be to take off the hair, spray water on the stitched part place on top of the base of a tall beer glass and put a book on it to flatten it out. Any other ideas??
Interior shot showing the officer style sweat band with silk bag missing unfortunately. Note also the use of soldered prongs on the wappen instead of the normal screw posts that one would expect from a helme of this era. The edge of the rear visor was also trimmed in the usual officer manner but this is missing. The rear spine is vented (slider) but unlike most spines it was never made with an extra piece to curl under the visor and hook over the screw post shown in the photo. The end of the spine is actually approx 1/4 inch from the visor edge and there are no marks in the shellac to indicate that there is something missing. The helmet is named in pencil... WHAAS.
