There is a little bit of stuff here in the USA. I am really disappointed by the USA World War I Centennial commission. These guys are really impossible to get a hold of and they sent me something last night on a license. I'm giving a talk tonight and I don't want to buy a license. I don't charge anything for my talks, I don't make any money, it is free to the public. I thought these guys were supposed to coordinate and advertising Centennial events. Even their website is one big under construction. It is the start of the war. The Centennial is here. http://worldwar-1centennial.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I was underwhelmed by the panel discussion. Somehow in the USA there seems to be some sort of thought that the war started in 1917 when the USA entered. I don't know who thinks this as academia is certainly not of the same mind. But everything you look at is often tinted by USA involvement. There was a recent piece by Hew Strachen emphasizing the global nature. I guess to each his own.
