Kürassier helmet. real or nah?

Liner seems off to me, and I've never seen a mannshaften kürassier helmet with what looks like an officer's reserve helmplate, though I could be mistaken in that. What are your opinions?

Real helmet with original lining, IMO. The plate could be a replacement, and the undersides of the visors and possibly cockades appear to have been re-painted...

Thank Arran for your expertese :) I didn't knew that there where Kürassier Metalhelmen out there with "triangular" tongue liners. Learning something everyday.

Just wondering if the helmet plate could be original to the helmet. I think it is but I've never seen this type of plate on a Kürassier helm.

Now that you said "triangular", and I've been back and had a closer look, you're absolutely right- this is not a correct liner. If it had rounded ends with a single hole, or squared ends with a double hole, it would make more sense. The presence of metal eyelets is also distinctly "non-German".

I agree with Arran that the triangular tongues on the liner are incorrect for this helmet; however I disagree that the metal eyelets are incorrect. I have two helmets with metal eyelets on the tongues are they are both 100% original. My biggest concern is the Wappen. The wings are voided on this Wappen, but on a true Kurassier Wappen they are not. Many, if not most, Model 1915 Kurassier helmets have a regular line Adler, but this version should have a proper Kurassier Adler. This Wappen is for the reserves, so maybe that makes a difference in what is acceptable.

Hi John,

If I look at the wappen, and the outline around it I am to be leave it could be original to this helmet. I have never seen this type of reserve wappen on a mannshaft Kürassier helmet though, very strange indeed.

I am able to buy it at 1845 euros. Do you guys think that this is an acceptable price? Or way to high/low?

1845 Euros? Rather pricey for a helmet with a liner that has been played with and possibly an ad hoc wappen. If it was my money, I would wait for a better helmet.
