Landsturm Bergmann LMG 15s / Spot the cheese-knife

Is that what is stuck in the belto of the fellow 2nd from the right?, Those are interesting bipods on the Bergmanns, looks like the standard bipod from the Mauser AT and the MG08/15

Drake: Very nice photograph. The guns are LMG 15 n/A. The LMG 15 a/A does not have a carrying handle mounted on the barrel jacket and does not have the base for mounting the MG08/15 bipod.

The differences are discussed in detail and illustrated in German Machineguns by Daniel D. Musgrave and Smith Hempstone Oliver, pages 113 through 123.

Brett asys it is a cheese knife, it does not wuite look like a pipe, and I am not familier with cheese knives as I never cut the cheese.

@ Tony / Gus: I'm no expert on edged weapons, but I am somewhat of a connoisseur of fine cheese, and the item being carried behind that fellow's belt, is a cheese knife (or a similar-looking tool for his LMG). If I'm wrong, you can call me Meier.

@ Reservist1. Thanks. I tried to order that book through Amazon tonight, but they don't carry it (only through a sub-agent who doesn't ship downunder). I'll try again today.
