The details aren't crisp, even for a wartime item. :-k

If it was late war as described by the seller, why would it be brass (oxydized to grey) in the first place? [-X

Exactly. It seems like there were dulled brass/bronze colonial plates before WWI, although the exact reference book that mentions them escapes me. However, I'm not so sure that zinc-plated gray plates or even gray-painted brass/bronze colonial plates were ever made.
It seems more likely to be a recently made item from Rudyard Kipling's all stomping grounds.

The details do not look not very good, particularly on the inside. If you are interested then I recommend to ask the seller for large close-ups to be sure is is a stamping and not cast.
