Well-known member
Leib -Grenadier Regt 8 formed 1808
Garrison Frankfurt a. O III A.K.
For the officers Waffenrock the
special collar and cuffs awarded 15. 6. 1898
This was the last Grenadier Regt .for the officers
to have the special collar and cuffs
on that same date the "new " wide winged
Grenadier eagle for the helmet front plate
The cypher F W R since 4.7. 1860
changed to F W R III8. 1. 1861
The officers helmets had the F W R III
rosette to secure the chin straps
on the enlisted helmets the I and II Batls
had 5 point stars on the end of the side lugs
for the III Batl it was Flugelhorns

Please note on the helmet above that the sword
held by the eagle has a straight hilt
not the normal s curve that we see on Grenadier eagles

Detail of the officers collar and cuffs L G R 8

Officers epaulettes and shoulder straps L G R 8
I think closer to the 1888 date due to the size of the straps
and the thick schnurr material

To continue with the L G R 8
Three different pairs of Officers shoulder straps
Left ; the Lt. Col. pair early in the M1888 Pattern
The massive size with the thick schnurr material
and the cyphers and crowns of a size almost
for use on the epaulettes .
middle pair more the normal size pair used later on
the pair on the right is the 2 underlays
when they switched the Infantry to white
but certain elite regiments where allowed
to retain their old underlay color in this case red
