"Closer than a brother, busier than a bee...."

An inscription found on a medal from the Military Order of the Cootie..

Great photo Joe, love the Broomhandle, wonder if it's a Red Nine

Great picture, and proof that you use anything when you are really desperate. Maybe this is also an explanation for the backfire of the third Paris gun at the hight of the lice plague in 1918!

(not mine, regrettably)

In the US Civil War-one remedy-besides washing-was to place lice uniforms on anthills

Only how did you get the ants out of the uniform? :p

Just an observation on your first pic Joe....it is so set up and posed with lugers, the mauser, a sledge hammer, bayonets, and even a set of pincers. I guess it is just a statement as to how pissed off these guys were with the whole lice problem. Regarding the Civil War ant solution...a great deal easier to get rid of the ants by brushing them off than searching for the much smaller lice. I am sure that the ants would be very thorough. I see this as one of our ancestors more practical "green" solutions to a lice problem...let some other insect deal with the pest. Similar to today where they introduce one insect to eradicate another to protect crops.
