Marking the beginning of the IJzer/Yzer River Battle. (18-31 October 1914).
On Friday night 8,400 torchbearers lit up the entire front (over 84 km-52 miles) of the Great War in Belgium from Nieuwpoort at the North Sea to Ploegsteert on the French border. King Filip and Queen Mathilde attend Light Front's closing ceremony at the Ploegsteert Memorial for British soldiers missing in action. Crown Princess Elisabeth was the last to speak.
