Yes, I saw that one too and I am not quite sure what to make of it. I checked my reference books several times and I am willing to believe that it is authenthic, but I could be wrong.

I was thinking the same. The ribs on the lion aren't as finely sculpted as an officers, but don't match the fakes either. I guess what I'm saying is that this doesn't have the earmarks of any of the obvious fakes out there, and looks good. Again, for all of this money, it would be nice to have it in hand, or have a return policy for it, but I guess the buyer is saying, "If you don't know your stuff, don't buy it." or something like that.
I wish I could say it was a great price, but it is a fair price for the market these days (especially with the lion AND the spike)... wish these were still a LOT less expensive. For a bit less than half that asking price, I'd be hard pressed not to think about it, as would most of the Pickelhaube collecting world!
