6th Kurassier. Replaced liner, chinscales seem too large for the helmet, cockades are probably not original, missing the head on the smaller eagle, some repairs. Might clean up nice.

Looking for a 6th Kurassier, I put in a bid, but didn't win (I thought it was high enough, but nope!). I did wonder about what I listed above, but thought it would clean up well. After placing the bid, I wondered about a few things: 1) What if this was the wrong plate and it was indeed marked to the GdK under the cockade? Then I'd be stuck looking for a front plate. I had no doubts I'd be able to clean it up and correct the bend in the neck guard, but the liner would go away for either an original or better repro. I'd also have to find cockades. I've seen both the kurassier style and line style plates on these (at Herman Historica etc.), so I still don't know what that's about... This one has the 'line' style eagle. So maybe somebody who knows more about Kurassier helmets could tell me if that's right or not. ?
It would've been an interesting project, but I guess the helmet gods have some other 6th Kurassier in mind for my collection. We'll see! Still looking!!
