According to Die Helme der Koniglich Bayerischen Armee 1806-1918 that is the correct style of Kokarden for a 1886 helmet. This is if I am reading my German correctly.......

Still, first time I have seen it on this type of helmet, very nice!

I am partial to Bavarian helmets, so I am very envious

Wow, there must be 1/2 an ounce of gold remaining on the frontplate, and the gold market is currently at about $572 value for that 1/2 ounce!
