I have always liked the looks of silver on black. This is one of my favorite helmets. It appears exactly the way I got it. All of the fittings are original to the helmet, but I had always wondered about the chinstrap. It is in immaculate condition. The chinstrap is extremely brittle and I am sure that it would crack if I ever tried to remove it, but it looks as if it were never used.



The shell shows marks from shrinkage and a couple of scuffs, the Kokarden have paint chips missing, but overall this is one of my best.

I can't find a battalion marking and the BA markings are very faint. It is marked to "BA VI" or "BA VII". I can't tell which. The second "I" may actually be part of the rectangle that surrounds the BKA number. Both would have used a silver line eagle Wappen.

:thumb up: Mine is from PB 8, if my rusty memory serves....

A very nice example John, an excellent piece. Typically they are marked PB + number. on the rear visor. The one I have is marked to PB 29. I bought it years ago and at the time it's spike tip had been cut off so that it could be made into a lamp, ie. the rod supporting the light bulb could be run up through the spike. Fortunately, no other damage had been done and I was able to find a new complete spike. Original chin straps for these are extreeeeemely rare and mine has a repro on it although the kokarden are originals that I bought subsequently.
