No complaints. Felt under visor and nape protector, square-tooth cap with double hole for adjustment lace = Uffz portepee, Wachtmeister...
Addendum after the close-up of Zeebas: The tip has been replaced.

Doesn't it seem to you that the base of the spike attachment creates the impression of being “disjointed”, not adhering evenly to the surface of the helmet dome?

Did you also take notice of the dented helmet body near the spike base? I can clearly see this fact from the photos you provided. The top of the helmet is visibly dented on both the right and the left side of the spike base. Can you see this?

I notice that the spike base is also dented, or technically speaking, the spike base is bent in several areas. I would say that a combination of the dented helmet body and the dented or bent spike base accounts for the spike base not adhering evenly to the surface of the helmet dome.

I recently acquired an 8th Jaeger zu Pferde enlisted pre-war helmet. The helmet body is not dented, and the spike base is not dented. But yet the spike base does not adhere evenly to the helmet dome on all 4-points of the spike base. I can't begin to tell you about all of the helmets that I have seen, many of them that I have acquired over the years, which have parts that are bent and do not align perfectly.

Best Wishes,

Alan
