Here's my 1916 JB14, which wasn't worn much because it was quickly replaced by the Stahlhelm. Although the M15 model is in steel-grey, the plate is still in 2 parts, as on the M95 model.

It's also worth noting that the crown is always openwork in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, even on the M15 model in gray iron.
