the Thiepval Memorial is currently closed to the Public for structrural refurb. The CWGC says they are hoping to have the Largest Brittish Memorial in the world ,will not be closed for long.
The Cemetary is still open . Was started in January 2007.

Bad news for me , as I am planning again a trip to revisit the Somme at the end of may. I do hope one might still visit the hill of Thiepval around the Memorial. It gives a a good viewpont of the battlefield in the direction of the Schwaben Redoubt en Moquet Farm.
I am also planning to revisit the "utter right" or south east of the front in the French Alsace near the Swiss border.

The work was planned for January to march . The memorial should be open . Just double check CWGC site.
Do you have a Grid refernce for Stijn's farm or a GPS marker. I am trying to find more info for him ,I just do not exact location of his farm .If i can get a GPS setting I know somebody who can help find War time positions.
