Metal spike Flat green with blackened brass spike?

Just got this one this weekend. Doesn't appear to ever of had a plate on it. Slots but no plate. Chin strap and national roundel only. Nice liner marked with 59 and huge. BLAW/G maybe (washed out quite a bit) stamped in ink on the back bill. Haven't pulled the nice liner out to look inside. By the over all look and what it all came with I think that it is period. Does all this sound right? Doug
 
Welcome to the forum. We definetly need some pics here. There are instructions as to how to do this on the site. From what you describe, it seems that you have a tin haube painted in feldgrau (green) with brass fittings. The "slots" in the front are for your helmet plate which would have been brass to match the fittings. Your liner is probably a natural leather brown colour and not dyed black on one side like the pre war hauben. I have one of these (complete) in my collection. I look forward to some pictures.
