This is interesting. I wonder how much it will go for?

Excellent helmet indeed. I bet it goes for much the same price as a Prussian infantry officer would. B

I'll take that bet Brian, I think it will leave a Prussian helmet in its dust.

Interesting turn of events, the high bid was $660, but the auction has been changed, erasing all bids, and setting a reserve, and I met the reserve with a $500 bid, something is odd.
Gus

My bid was canceled and the item relisted again, either it is is a very inexperianced seller, or there is something very wrong here, I do not think I will bid again.
Gus
I suspect the seller intended to set the reserve at $5000 rather than $500, that is the only reasonable conclusion I can come up with.

yes it git canceled. Yes we have snow at work about 4 feet . I left Klamath and moved to prospect to get away from the snow. now all I get is rain here. And snow

Prospect looks like a lot nicer town than Klamath Falls, but Klamath was a lot nicer 40 years ago when I lived there, I am not saying...

So thats where the snow is..Oregon?? You guys can keep it, we have none here but last year it snowed on Nov 13 and stayed right until spring. Too bad about the screw up on this helmet the seller seemed to know what he was doing. There was a company down in TX a few years ago that had several of these for sale. B

It is currently at $500 again, I would like to bid, but I think it may have been sold off ebay, and the seller does not know how to end the auction. Hey Brian, if there is any snow headed your way through our part of the worl, we will try to stop it here
Gus

Well it sold for just under $2500, I suspect that it could have brought more if the auction had not been so poorly handled, and I would have paid that much if I was sure that it was available, but I think there may be problems here.

I had seen a real one in Arizona recently, and had I the money right now I would have bid at $3000. The last couple of American spiked helmets at SOS (the leather ones I mean) were listed at $3500+.

I think this Mexican one should have gone for at least that much, maybe more. I didn't see it, but good thing too. I'd have done something dumb like bid on it, and now I'd be in panic mode as I watch my bank account get smaller every month.

It would have brought much more if the auction had not been such a mess, but it did not sell, the seller apearently did not know how to end an auction, the family decieded to keep the helmet, I do not think $5,000 would have been out of line for this helmet if some of the family history came with it. It is better that it stayed with the family, in my opinion.
