Mounted dragoon officer and one-year volunteer

Nice photo Bob, but I would say he is called „Boeckelmann“. The short vertical bar at the beginning and the slight corner in the arc of this letter make it look like a "B" to me.

Bob,

Albrecht Böckelmann. Born 10 March 1874 in Magdeburg, he entered DR 9 on 18 April 1893 as a Fahnenjunker. Promoted to Portepee-Fähnrich on 18 November 1893 and commissioned as a Leutnant on 18 August 1894. He was promoted to Oberleutnant on 22 May 1904 and was transferred to DR 22 on 25 July 1910. promoted to Rittmeister (without a Patent of seniority) on 18 August 1910, he received his patent on 13 September 1911. He was promoted to Major on 16 September 1917 and his award of the Hohenzollern House Order Knight's Cross with Swords was gazetted on 16 October 1917 (still showing him as a Rittmeister!) He initially deployed with his regiment, later serving as a battalion commander in Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 73 and in the Freikorps immediately after the war. He rose to the command of Reiter-Regiment 1 in the Reichswehr and retired with the Charakter of a Generalmajor. He was not recalled for service in WW2 and died in 1956 in München.

Super photo!
