My first German helmet

Hello,

I'm more of a sword collector. The only helmets I've come across were really rough but this one looked in nice shape so I bought it.
First off, I know nothing about these except what I read on this very informative website since Monday. It is marked 52 1/2 and BA IV Maker mark is W Gemmlich gmb Berlin 1915.

From other pictures, I see its missing the cockades, spiketop, and chinstrap. I also see many different types.
To make sure I look for the right parts, what exactly should I be looking for. I appreciate any help.

Thank you
Matt

Hello,

Looks like a very nice Prussian pickelhaube. Needs top spike, cockades and chin strap. I have a spike and base available in interested.

Matt,

Nice marks! The only mark we have of this maker is on the liner.

With your permission I would like to get a good picture of your mark and add it to our list at: http://www.pickelhauben.net/articles/Helmet_Makers.htm

While chinstrap's and cockades are common missing items an interesting thought is that these M15 helmets were worn both with and without a spike.
