I recently picked this up. The seller suggested it was an Indian Army kurta - but it isn't. The cut is wrong, the shape is only similar in passing. I'm thinking possibly Afghanistan or Persia in the interwar period. The fabric has that feel of something old but not too old. I don't think it is a movie prop.
