Hello,
Here's a nice Named silver trimmed Württemberg M95 Enlisted Helmet that I bought a couple of years ago and never got around to posting here.
The silver trim would be for Pioneer Battalion 13, R119, or R123. I currently have an original brass trimmed chinstrap on the helmet.
I hope that Philippe can decipher the hand written name inside the helmet, and with his excellent research skills, find out which unit this soldier served in. It looks like the hand written name reads: "Scho_ _ agel". Could it be Schorwagel, is there such a name? I can clearly make out the "Scho" and the "agel" portion of the name, but there are two or three letters that my eyes cannot decipher.
When I acquired the helmet, the black tinned support disk was located on the outside of the helmet, underneath the spike base as they are sometimes found. I removed the spike and installed the support disk on the inside of the helmet as it would have been originally.
Best Regards,
Alan
