I recently bought this prussian Kurassierhelm from the 8th prussian kurassier regiment. if I look at the spike it seems like a pre war pickelhaube, however if I look at the rim and the knopf91 it shows more indication of a model 1915.

where there model 1915's without a fieldgray spike? or is the spike not original to the helmet? what do you guys think?

I know the condition is bad, but I just could not pass it up.

I can't say about Kurassierhelm, but I have had other helmets that were mixed parts. I have a Pioneer helmet, that was brought back by a family member, it is mixed. I believe that helmets that they knew would only be worn in the rear areas with covers, got made with varying parts.

Will a magnet stick to the spike top? Then it is just the brass base that is pre-1915. Personally, its makes complete sense to use up old stock parts, especially as the helmet was expected to be worn only with an Übeerzug (cover).
