New finds at SOS

Hi All,
Here are the goodies I brought home from SOS this year, well to be correct, the M1887 ammo pouches were waiting on my doorstep when I returned, as AGM issued another catalogue just before SOS, Jeff knows that Ihave been saving my money for the show, and he is happy to take it in the weeks before the show. I have found out that it is foolinsh to pass up on a good buy just because the show is coming up. The Swedish helmet was a spur of the moment buy, I have always wanted a Swedish Pickelhaube, and when James dropped the price below $100, I could not resist:). The Kommandatur Lille verry pistol is a nice example, although not unit marked. I violated my morratorium on the purchase of grenades again, but in my defence, Maggie found the Diskushandgranat, and the French OF grenade, the Stielhandgranat is a nice example with some of the instructions and date printing still visible, and in the back, a nice Russian Gymnastiorka.

Even with the new goodies, the best part of the show was meeting new and old friends. I am looking forward to next year.

That Swedish haube is nice how similar is it to its German counter part? Lots of good finds under one roof!

A lot of the Swedish helmets where actually made in Germany, this one is made by the Junckers firm..

I miss it already, but I guess it got a good home!

Another interesting perspective I picked up at the show is that Swedish Trichters are the same as Prussian. Of course you still have a thread problem but I did not know that they were an exact match.

Hey Joe,
That should not surprise you, as the Swedish helmets were German made from a german design.

Gus, I did not know you nabbed an occupied Belgium German Lille Depot flare gun. Good for you. These are not easy to find. Saw one on ebay sell for over $400 once... (you paid less I hope?) if not, who cares.... prices only go up.

Mine is marked on one side of the wooden grips are a" Kdtur LILLE" (Kommandantur Lille) contract stamp and on the other an impressed stamp of "J.R. 91 1 Batl" for Oldenburgisches Infanterie-Regt. Nr.91 1st Battalion.

Hey Tony,
This was one of two at the show, I am very happy with it, it does not have the unit markings, but other than that it is a very nice example. To be honest, the first time I saw a photo of one of these was on your web site. The construction is crude, and it is not a simple design, one thing that impressed me is the saftey built into the firing mechanism, as the firing pin can not be moved forward unless the trigger is pulled in the uncocked position.
Best wishes
Gus
