I picked this helmet up a few weeks ago. Looking for opinions.

Hey Russ
The Hohenzollern emblem looks to have been painted on a long time ago, but it is in much better condition than the finish on the rest of the helmet, this might raise some questions, but I think it can be taken for what it is, as the helmet would not nessecarily have been new when the emblem was painted on, and it appears that the thicker paint of the emblem has protected the finish under it, leading me to think that the general finish has mostly been lost after the thicker paint was applied, I like it.
Are there any markings on it other thant he shell numbers?
Best wishes
Gus

Hi Gus

Thanks for your response. No it dose not have any other markings...I got it for a very reasonable price from supposedly from the person that got it from the vet that brought it home. So I think that it is OK. But I never buy any stories.

Thanks Russ

The helmet look fine to me the strap needs more pictures.
It looks like a bell L 64 maker. Is this the stamp on the inside?
:D :D

I agree with Jerry that the helmet looks like it's made by R. Lindenberg. The rounded vent lugs are a feature unique to this maker.

Russ, better pictures are needed of the crest. It doesn't look convincing to me at all. Also, would it be possible for you to post some close-ups of the liner band and all three liner pins, both inside and out?

The liner pads look like they're not in the right place; their position on the liner band is very odd.

I missed the liner too. and it is odd as it looks like there is a rivet visible in the 7:00 o'clock position. It should not be possible to mount the liner incorrectly, as the holes are not the same spacing,
Gus

That's exactly what I thought I was seeing Gus. It makes me wonder how the liner is attached to the helmet. Is it glued in? At least the pads look okay, although that's not saying much considering the quality of the pictures provided.

Hey Russ,
Some one has had the liner out at some time, and probably broke the other pins, at least you still have the liner, so often it is just a helmet shell.
