no vent hole under the spike of this parts helmet

There's no vent hole under the spike, yet the comb marks from a fireman's helmet don't seem to be there, either.
 
If the plate is original, it has a fitting for a metalhelm type with the single 'slit' for fixing it in place. Other than that, I can't see much good in this anywhere. It might never have been finished and picked up in the 1920's by some tourist in Germany, then trashed up with parts... some of which look rather questionable. (?)

Hmmm....the bird might be a good part to complete a metal helmet restoration.
