Hi guys,
I’d like to show you my latest find for my new collection :)
I think these are Officer-Gloves for Parades, and they got nice decoration-seams. I found it on Weitze.net and watched it for a long time. Finally I had to buy it because these are the only one I ever saw with these nice golden Stitches.

The Gloves are made of fine white Leather. Unfortunately one seam is slightly torned at the Pointer of the right Glove, but it could be repaired I guess. This damage was not mentioned in the description when i bought it, so it was a little damper of my pleasur when I opened the parcel :(

The original Owner has marked both Gloves with his Initials “H. S.“ in Latin-Handwriting.

Inside of one Glove he added additional Informations in a mixed Latain/Kurrent-Handwriting:

Im pretty sure that Line 1 means „Hpt. Schmidt“ (Hauptmann=Captain). But I’m not sure about the 2nd Line. It could mean „Sudwall“, Südwall“, Sudwalle“ or Südwalle“ :|
If anybody knows a Place named like that, it would be awesome. Or maybe someone can read the Text without doubts, this would be also very helpfull for me.
Hope you like it, thank you guys :)

Congrats Sandy! :thumb up: I have never seen a pair of officer gloves like this, an excellent addition to your collection.

Still look very nice and as always very cool when you get to know who was the owner of these gloves

Nice find :thumb up:

Thank you very much :D
I agree, it would be awesome to know something about the owner Hauptmann H. Schmidt, but unfortunately I didn’t find something until now.
Weitze.net wrote that the Gloves should be from around 1900... I got 2 ranking-books of prussian Officers now, from 1904 and 1913 (thanks Philippe for the Tipp  ) and a digital version of 1896. There are several matches with Hptm. Schmidt, but I can‘t bring it together with Sudwall or Südwall. The dirt and wear of the Gloves could be from horseriding, so a cuirassier- or cavalry-Officer is plausible :-k
On Goggle I found a match that in „Krefeld some Garde-Jäger from the Südwall didn’t support the November-Revolution“, but I couldn‘t find the Name of a Regiment or baracks there. Maybe someone knows more about it?
I would be very grateful for any help :thumb up:

Not something that you see everyday.
Congratulations on this rare and unusual find.

John :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:
